{365 Days of Social Media} Day 49: Educate

By: Marlynn Jayme Schotland

When working with small businesses on social media campaigns and during my workshops, I often talk about the three E’s of social media: Educate, Entertain, and Engage.

EDUCATE
Social media is a wonderful platform for businesses and individuals alike to educate audiences. From a business standpoint, you want to educate your audience about your product or services, your industry, your people, your brand, and about how your business can help shape their lives and their communities. From an individual standpoint, you can use social media to educate audiences about your interests, your activities, a personal cause, or hobbies.

10 SIMPLE WAYS YOU CAN EDUCATE YOUR AUDIENCE VIA SOCIAL MEDIA:
* Share links to new articles about your industry or your interests
* Share the latest industry stats or stats about your cause/hobby/personal interests
* Share news about your business
* Share little known facts about your profession. Maybe even have a “Did You Know” weekly update.
* Share common FAQs
* Share a common misconception and the reality
* Create a video of a How To tip
* Create a podcast and bring in experts as your guests.
* Create a blog with categories devoted to educating your audience.
* Create infographics to share pertinent info about your industry, business, interests.

Tomorrow I’ll share 10 simple ways you can entertain your audience via social media.
